A Life Full of Music

Janet and Jim came together through music in 1991 and have been making music ever since.  Starting in St Paul’s Choir, through Wessex Singers, Bournemouth Bach Choir, Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and eventually (after Jim’s voice gave out) to U3A ukulele and Mixed Jam Band.

Jim has been playing the organ since 1953, beginning on the Wurlitzer at the Gaumont Cinema in Sheffield! He reached two significant milestones recently:

1. in 2014 as a retirement gift from the St Endellion Festival Trustees he was invited to play the magnificent organ of The Temple Church and

2. An invitation to play the mighty Willis organ at Salisbury Cathedral on his 80th birthday.

He has since 2014 enjoyed the amazing quality of St Paul’s digital organ.

Much of Jim’s musical energy has been focused on St Paul’s choir, starting in 1981 until the modern music took over a few years ago. Some of the original choir members (and others) recorded this beautiful Good Friday music in their own homes during lock down 2020: Janet and Jim Green, Roy and Margaret Page are singing “off camera”:-

St Paul’s””modern” Choir recorded 13 carols in one session (!) the day before lock down November 2020, thanks to Janet’s prompting “Let’s get on with it!” Credit to Steve Allen for his brilliant video production
